Today's Prompt: JOIN
GO
This summer found me taking time off from something I love. As much as I love and enjoy it, I felt that needed time to think, have fun, and just enjoy the moments around me without wondering when I’d have time to sit down and write each one down.
The entire summer I breathed in fun moments, first moments, beautiful moments, difficult moments, and lazy-in-no-hurry-at-all moments. Moments which have yet to land on paper, but with ink still fresh fill the pages of my heart and mind.
I desperately needed to take a break from writing—from blogging—so that I could enjoy time with my family and I wanted to press pause in order to wrap my head around several other things as well.
But you know what? In taking a break from writing, I took a break from each of you.
When I read today’s prompt it brought this realization to my mind: My writing allows you to join me on my journey, and as you read along I have the chance to join you on yours. We become joined together in this online community of sharing stories, sharing our hearts, sharing our lives.
So after my summer hiatus, it’s back to blogging and writing and the opportunity to share my heart—will you join me in following along?
STOP

Happy to see you back at it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks--glad to be back! =)
DeleteWelcome back. I had my break beginning in January when we moved 500 miles south and I've just been back to blogging regularly for about a month or so. Would love to connect with you!
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes a break is needed. Thanks so much for stopping by--nice to "meet" you! =)
DeleteHi Rachel! I am here visiting your blog from Lisa-Jo's site, which I actually came across from a friend of mine. I am right there with you. I often take breaks from blogging because I get lazy at writing my thoughts out. Honestly, writing allows me to keep my thoughts in line with what God has placed in my life, to help others, to be encouraged because no matter what is going on, God is still God. I only get lazy at writing because there is so much to say, that at times it's overwhelming. Five Minute Friday is perfect. I love what you said -- "We become joined together in this online community of sharing stories, sharing our hearts, sharing our lives." Happy Blogging to you! Thank you for sharing!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tina--so nice to "meet" you! Yes, I think writing helps me think through so many things the Lord is teaching me at the time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for stopping by! =)
DeleteHaha! I took a break from blogging all summer too. My break was unintentional, so good for you for actually planning such a hiatus. I hope you had a super lovely time with your sweet family!
ReplyDeleteI did, but as always summer was over too quickly! =) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteA-ha!! So glad you are back! I'd love to get together and hear all about your summer!
ReplyDeleteAmy--thank you; I'm glad to be back! Yes, we need to soon! =) Thanks for stopping by! =)
DeleteBreaks are good, especially when God led. I have been taking them regularly, on week at a time. My guideline is every 7th week, although it's not set in stone. I enjoy my breaks and I enjoy my time online. The community is beautiful and God uses it in amazing ways to heal, encourage and bring joy and hope. I love it! But my family is first :)
ReplyDeleteBy His grace we can walk this delicate balance... Blessings to you.
Michele--I love your idea about the break every 7th week; what a great idea to help maintain balance! You are right--the community is a blessing but family is FIRST! =) Thanks for taking time to stop by!
DeleteHi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteOh my what a cute family you have!!! Thank you for stopping by my blog, it's nothing short of a miracle that I can scribble out something quickly and that it blesses people! Jesus has continued to give me the picture of us dancing as a representation of our unity. (My 'one word' is ONE this year from a desire to be ONE with Him and for Him to be my ONE focus.)
It is hard to keep eyes off of me, off of 'what ifs' and off of others. {even knowing that Jesus is so compelling, beautiful and good!!}
Be Thou My Vision...and praise be to God who always leads us in triumph!
Hi Kathy--I'm so glad to "meet" you! You're right--we must always keep our eyes on Him first. I appreciate your thoughts and so glad you stopped by! =)
DeleteOh what God can do through you when you're willing to share the story He has given you with us! That being said, breaks -- those moments of being still -- are good. No matter how long they need to last. What a joy to start feeling that urge again that it's time to jump back in and join... ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! for sharing with us! What a great 5 minute write!
Yes, you're right; I always pray the Lord will allow me to use the story that He has blessed me with to share with others so they can be blessed. I loved your 5 minute post as well! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by--I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! =)
