Linking up for today’s Five Minute Friday, hosted by the lovely Lisa-Jo. It’s a great time to just enjoy the art of writing where we set our timers and write for five minutes flat—no editing, no over thinking or backtracking.
Today’s Prompt: GRACEFUL {Inspired by Emily Freeman's new book released this week}
GO
There is the ivory swan gliding across the water, leaving a trail of tiny ripples atop the glass lake. Then there is the awkward duck flailing its wings in an attempt to swim as the swan, splashing the murky water instead.
And the swan rests upon the water, swimming,
beautifully,
peacefully,
gracefully.
Sometimes in this journey of motherhood I flail my wings clumsily. I struggle to get everything just right but my own efforts are futile.
But in my weakness He is strong, and He extends His grace to me,
lovingly,
perfectly,
endlessly.
Grace for my desperate splashes, for the muck from the pond, for the mistakes I’ve made that day.
And the beautiful thing?
When I’m resting in His grace than I become, like the swan,
Graceful.
STOP
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” 2 Cor. 9:9

Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI love the visual of flailing around with my wings - I don't feel very graceful in general and that sounds just about right.
Thanks for sharing!
Jenni
Such grace in expression. In your life. In your words. Thank you, Rachel.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, how resting in His grace makes me graceful. Such a beautiful 5MF writing!
