Today’s Prompt: RACE
GO
Lying in a hospital bed my world turned upside down.
This isn’t how it went in the “What to Expect When Your Expecting” handbook, and at 19 weeks along in my first pregnancy we came face to face with an unimaginable suggestion.
His words dropped like an axe, splitting into the room.
“At this point your only option is to discontinue this pregnancy.” He stated. His precisely packaged words a futile attempt to mask the truth.
He tried to convince us that continuing the pregnancy would only put my life in danger, never stopping to consider the tiny life inside.
But choosing life is our only option and we will let God decide, we told him.
“From your lips to God’s ears” he retorted.
Over that weekend, just as the doctor suspected, my fever soared dangerously high; signs of infection were settling in. Someone came to my room, preparing me for what would take place upon delivery which by now appeared imminent.
My pulse raced.
From the fever?
From fear.
But we prayed and begged and pleaded for God to intervene.
And He did.

In every twirl, I witness the masterpiece of His creation.
Beautiful. Precious. Miraculous.
Life.
STOP
“For You created my inmost being…I will praise Thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” {Psalm 139:13-14}
